Job Summary
Implement approved behavioral management strategies to ensure safe transportation of students with special needs to and from school. Establish positive relationships with students and parents while assisting with safe loading and unloading, coordinating seating, and communicating relevant medical considerations and behavior plans. Partner with bus drivers to verify correct boarding and dropping off, secure seat belts and Child Restraint Systems, and operate wheelchair clamps. Prevent, intervene, or de-escalate disruptive or dangerous student behavior, assess emergencies, and report all incidents or accidents in writing. Attend required training courses and demonstrate ability to operate safety and adaptive equipment on buses.
Required Qualifications
- 18 years of age or older
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to enter/exit the bus via steps repeatedly
- Ability to lift 25-49 lbs
- Hold a current CPR Certification or be able to complete training and provide proof of certification within 60 days of employment
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a school setting and or with school-aged children
