Job Summary
Specimen Shipping Specialist I in the NeoGenomics lab is an entry-level Logistics Technician responsible for receiving specimens, ensuring proper handling, matching patient information, data entry, and preparing specimens for laboratory testing. Responsibilities include QA checks on incoming/outgoing samples, returning slides/blocks to clients, managing chain of custody for slides and blocks, reporting quality or compliance concerns, following specimen routing and handling procedures, and coordinating with Lead/Supervisor/Manager on missing blocks/slides. The role requires proficiency with MS Office, the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime in a biohazard environment. Location is Aliso Viejo, CA; shifts include Sunday–Thursday or an alternative Sunday–Thursday/Sunday–Thursday schedule depending on coverage.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 1+ years of experience equivalent to an Accessioning Technician preferred
- Proficient with MS Office programs
- Ability to sit during shift
- Ability to move and lift 50 pounds and maneuver packages over 50 pounds with assistance
- Ability to bend/twist at waist and knees
- Flexible and available based on staffing requirements; evenings, weekends, holidays, on call and overtime
- Work in a biohazard environment and comply with Safety Manual
