Job Summary
Specimen Processor needed to prepare and route biological specimens for laboratory analysis. Responsibilities include opening specimens, pouring into secondary containers, verifying patient demographics against requisition forms, data entry into the tracking system, meeting production metrics and quality measures, unpacking and routing specimens, packing and shipping to testing facilities when required, preparing and storing excess samples, handling and disposing of medical/chemical waste, complying with environmental health and safety policies, and operating automated instrumentation under supervision. Requires high school diploma or GED, strong computer/typing skills, ability to lift up to 30 lbs, and comfort handling human specimens; flexibility for overtime and potential second shift. Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent
- Proficient computer and typing skills
- Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
- Comfortable handling human biological specimens including blood, urine and tissue samples
- Ability to lift up to 30lbs, work in protective equipment
- Strong eye hand coordination to identify specimens by touch and sight
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment
- Flexibility to work overtime as needed
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
