Specimen Collector I - Phlebotomy

Job Summary
Collect biological specimens at client sites, maintaining chain of custody integrity and ensuring sufficient sample volume. Follow standard operating procedures for sample collection, labeling, and sealing, while verifying insurance information through Passport and completing requisitions via Electronic Lab Requisitions. Communicate with clients and patients regarding Aegis policies, answer inquiries, and request payments where applicable. Maintain compliance training records, order supplies, and manage the budget with regional sales managers. Participate in process improvements and support marketing and sales objectives while representing Aegis professionally.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Valid phlebotomy certification
- Must meet state requirements for phlebotomy certification
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment while maintaining a focus on quality and extreme confidentiality
- Excellent customer service skills
- Positive approach and attitude in patient interactions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work on multiple tasks without sacrificing quality
- Attention to detail
- Ability to interact with staff at all levels
- Ability to send, receive, and monitor emails
- Basic understanding of web site navigation including URL and how to enter website addresses
- Ability to maintain and enter usernames/password and understand why credentials are important
- Basic understanding of ports on a computer (USB for signature pad, printers)
- Ability to type at least 40 words per minute
- Experience and understanding of Windows operating system
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in the medical field
- Preferred experience with tablets and use of a stylus
- Knowledge of how to save or delete files and folders
- Understanding necessity of security measures
