Specimen Collector I - Phlebotomy

Job Summary

Collect biological specimens at client sites while maintaining chain of custody integrity and ensuring sufficient sample volume. Follow standard operating procedures for sample collection, labeling, and sealing, then package specimens for shipment. Obtain initial insurance verification through Passport, verify requisitions, and utilize Electronic Lab Requisitions for submissions. Answer client and patient inquiries regarding Aegis policies and collect payments where applicable. Maintain open communication with Regional and Area Sales Managers, support marketing objectives, and participate in process improvements and team efforts. Comply with all safety requirements, including PPE use, and complete required compliance training.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Completion of a phlebotomy training program (from an accredited school or phlebotomy certification program)
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in blood collection
  • State requirements for phlebotomy certification (where required)
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment while maintaining a focus on quality and extreme confidentiality
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Positive approach and attitude in patient interactions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks without sacrificing quality
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to interact with staff at all levels
  • Ability to send, receive, and monitor emails
  • Basic understanding of web site navigation including URL and how to enter website addresses
  • Ability to maintain and enter usernames/password and understand why credentials are important
  • Basic understanding of ports on a computer (USB for signature pad, printers)
  • Ability to type at least 40 words per minute
  • Experience and understanding of Windows operating system
  • Schedule: Monday and Wednesday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, and Tuesday and Thursday from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM, up to 26 hours per week
