Specimen Collector I

Job Summary
Specimen Collector I collects biological specimens at client sites, maintains the integrity of the collection process and chain of custody, fuels accurate reporting through maintaining records, handles initial insurance verification for billing, and packages specimens for shipment. Responsibilities include following SOPs for sample collection, ensuring sample integrity and proper labeling/sealing, processing ELR submissions, addressing client questions about policies, complying with HIPAA training and PPE safety, ordering supplies, managing payments where applicable, communicating with Regional and Area Sales Managers, supporting sales objectives related to sample collection, maintaining knowledge of Aegis testing services, contributing to process improvements, and providing leadership by example. Requirements include a High School diploma or GED and strong communication/data-entry skills; healthcare/medical experience preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED required
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment while maintaining a focus on quality and extreme confidentiality
- Experience in the healthcare/medical field is preferred
- Excellent customer service skills are essential to success in this role
- Positive approach and attitude in patient interactions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to work on multiple tasks without sacrificing quality, attention to detail, and ability to interact with staff at all levels is required
- Basic computer knowledge including, but not limited to: Ability to send, receive, and monitor emails
- Basic understanding of web site navigation including URL and how to enter website addresses
- Ability to maintain and enter usernames/password and understand why credentials are important
- Basic understanding of ports on a computer (USB for signature pad, printers)
- Ability to type at least 40 words per minute
- Experience and understanding of Windows operating system
- Preferred experience with tablets and use of a stylus
- Knowledge of how to save or delete files and folders
- Understanding necessity of security measure
