Job Summary
The Specification Writer 2 is responsible for creating and maintaining technical documents that outline requirements for civil and environmental projects. This role involves collaborating with engineers and project managers to ensure specifications are clear and compliant with standards. Key activities include revising specifications, interpreting technical drawings, performing quality control, calculating construction costs, and preparing project correspondence. Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of experience, or 1 year with an advanced degree, have an EIT/EI certification, and demonstrate effective communication and teamwork skills.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience in specification writing, technical writing, or a related field
- Solid understanding of technical fundamentals
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other documentation tools
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
- Eager to learn and expand skill set
- Reviews, interprets, and employs appropriate design guidance from technical memos and reports
- Understands how specifications influence construction methods, bid items, quantities, and cost estimates
- Performs quality control of basic deliverables
