Job Summary
Ensure students are in a safe, inclusive environment while leading clubs of approximately 20 children in Chess/Robotics, Photography/Dance, or Digital Media. Develop and lead age-appropriate, engaging activities aligned with whole-child approaches, monitoring attendance and participation to maintain active engagement. Build positive relationships with participants, colleagues, and stakeholders while collaborating on culminating events that showcase student accomplishments. Comply with safety protocols, emergency procedures, and required certifications, and submit daily attendance records. Attend off-site field trips and mandatory staff development trainings.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge and experience working in expanded learning programs or youth recreational facilities
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED
- AA Degree in Child Development or a related field
- Prior experience working with groups of K-12 students in an academic or recreational setting
- Work well with young children and/or youth
- Good oral and written communication
- Computer literacy and willingness to learn
- Valid LIVE Scan
- TB Clearance
- CPR Certification
- Must successfully pass an assessment test evaluating skills in math, reading comprehension, and spelling
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
- Must be able to stand
- Must be able to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and use a computer
- Must be able to frequently talk, hear, and reach with hands and arms
- Must be available for weekend shifts
- Must be available for intersessional days
- Must be able to attend training at the Woodcraft Rangers main office in Little Tokyo
- Must be able to attend school sites
- Must be able to attend off-site field trips
- Must be able to maintain and submit student attendance daily
- Must be able to comply with all applicable safety requirements and emergency protocols
- Must be able to participate in staff development trainings
- Must be able to work both independently and collaboratively
- Must be comfortable to present and speak in front of staff and peers during in-person training
Desired Qualifications
- AA Degree in Child Development or a related field
- Prior experience working with groups of K-12 students in an academic or recreational setting
