Job Summary
Conduct pharmacy technician duties in both inpatient and outpatient settings under direct pharmacist supervision. Prepare and distribute sterile medications, manage automated dispensing systems, and maintain inventory across hospital and community locations. Process prescriptions, handle cash transactions, and manage vendor ordering and receiving for both departments. Monitor medication safety, respond to recalls, and ensure compliance with USP 797/800 standards. Assist pharmacists with quality assurance, training new technicians, and resolving supply shortages. Perform daily cleaning and hazardous medication handling in accordance with departmental policies. Work a hybrid schedule at 12 Rhoads Drive, Utica, NY, earning between $18.02 and $27.03 per hour. Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year Pharmacy Technician experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- Successful mastery of required tasks and operations as taught and mentored by pharmacy staff by the end of six months of employment
- Progression to Technician II required within 6 months, if required by primary location
- Heavy Work - Exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects
- Frequent balancing, climbing, crouching, typing/clerical/dexterity, grasping, hearing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, seeing/monitor/computer use, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, walking, and fit testing
- Occasional bodily fluids/bloodborne exposure
- Occasional extreme temperatures, noise
- The job may require travel from time- to-time, but not on a regular basis
