Job Summary
Access physician practices to prescribe specialty medications, train providers, and assist patients. Establish communication with targeted practices, arrange stakeholder meetings, and demonstrate ambulatory pharmacy partnership value. Process prescriptions, manage insurance adjudication, and prepare prior authorization paperwork while triaging limited distribution drugs. Coordinate patient pickups, follow up on refills, and address adverse drug reactions. Act as a financial advocate by leveraging charitable foundations and manufacturer programs. Maintain physician relationships, assist with program reporting, and cross-train on ambulatory pharmacy staffing needs. This hybrid role in Atlanta and Gordon, Georgia requires a PharmD and unrestricted license, with full-time status and potential weekend/holiday coverage.
Required Qualifications
- Current unrestricted pharmacist license in the appropriate state of practice
- PharmD degree
- 5+ years community/retail/ambulatory pharmacy or health-system related experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Prior experience on pharmacy dispensing systems
- Familiarity with insurance adjudication processes
- Comfortable working with clinical data, lab values, and reading/writing notes in patient medical records
- Must be available for weekends and/or holidays as per business needs
Desired Qualifications
- PharmD degree strongly preferred
- Previous experience in a specialty pharmacy
- Experience processing prior authorizations
- Experience as a financial advocate for patients
- Experience coordinating pickup/courier delivery of Rx's with patients
- Experience following up with patients to ensure refills are ordered on time
- Experience addressing ADR's or clinical questions
- Experience informing physician offices of patients through process
- Experience documenting in EMR as necessary
- Experience maintaining relationships with physician offices through periodic visits/meetings
- Experience assisting with program financial reporting to client/data collection
- Experience cross-training to ambulatory pharmacy
- Experience assisting with staffing needs
- Experience providing oversight and direction to associates
- Experience coaching, mentoring, and developing staff
- Experience overseeing new employee onboarding
- Experience providing career development and opportunities
