Job Summary
Independently manage a portfolio of complex reinsurance claims involving asbestos, pharmaceutical, toxic tort, and other mass tort exposures by analyzing liability, damages, and contractual obligations. Interpret facultative and treaty reinsurance contracts to determine coverage, establish accurate case reserves, and develop action plans for negotiation and resolution. Serve as a corporate witness in litigation, arbitration, and dispute-resolution settings when required. Maintain thorough documentation ensuring compliance with internal guidelines and stay current on emerging legal trends to enhance claims strategy. This role focuses on Property & Casualty reinsurance within a specialized team that values independent judgment and strategic decision-making. Limited travel is expected approximately twice per year to build team connections.
Required Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of reinsurance contracts, insurance coverage principles, claim processes, and relevant case law
- Proven experience evaluating and resolving complex bodily injury and property damage reinsurance claims involving mass-tort exposures
- Ability to collaborate effectively in both virtual and in-person settings with internal teams, management, external cedents, and brokers
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and Copilot
- Exceptional written communication skills with the ability to produce clear, concise, and well-reasoned documentation
- Limited travel will be expected (approx. twice per year) to build team connections
- The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation
- Reliable internet is required, with minimum speeds of 50 MB download and 5 MB upload
- When working from home, you must have a dedicated, private workspace free from distractions, along with appropriate desk and seating
Desired Qualifications
- 5+ years of relevant experience preferred; 3+ years will be considered for strong candidates with demonstrated capability
