Job Summary
Utilize the nursing process to provide patient care under the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse or under the direction of a licensed provider. Maintain professional accountability for assigned patients and coordinate care with other departments. Perform duties consistent with Mercy Service Standards while protecting patient rights and confidentiality. Maintain a valid LPN license within the hiring state or via compact licensure, and hold Basic Life Support certification. Complete additional unit-specific certifications such as ACLS or NRP as required. Work a schedule involving prolonged standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds regularly. Apply the nursing process to deliver safe, effective care under RN supervision.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited registered professional nursing program
- LPN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire
- Ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis
- Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods each shift
- Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties
Desired Qualifications
- 6 months clinical healthcare experience, preferably in a primary care office
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- CPHON (Certified Pediatric/Hematology/Oncology Nurses)
- OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- PEARS (Pediatric Assessment Recognition and Stabilization)
- Six Assessment & Care Modules
- C-EFM (Fetal Monitor Certification)
- Other unit-specific certifications as required
