Job Summary
Provide direct patient care in the Emergency Room, utilizing the nursing process to ensure optimal outcomes for newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. Perform focused assessments, document pain management and discharge instructions, and educate patients on cultural and religious needs. Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team led by the Emergency Department Physician, maintaining autonomy while recognizing limitations and utilizing the chain of command. Participate in call backs, precepting, and committee work as requested. Maintain calm during acuity changes and delegate to appropriate team members. Requires Illinois licensure, ACLS/TNCC/PALS certification, and prior ED experience.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of accredited nursing program
- Illinois licensed or eligible
- CPR required
Desired Qualifications
- ACLS, TNCC, PALS or ENPC, ECRN preferred
- Prior Emergency Department experience or other critical care environment preferred
