Job Summary
Implement grade-relevant, subject matter-specific curriculum through in-person and virtual learning while developing lesson plans and activities aligned with district standards. Deliver instruction to diverse learners, including those with special needs, by creating a safe, engaging environment that promotes academic success and life skills. Communicate with students, parents, and district personnel via phone, email, or video conferencing to confer on progress and behavior. Assess, document, and prepare reports on achievement, grade performance, and attendance while supervising student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct. Collaborate with team members, counselors, and administrators to participate in conferences and professional learning sessions. Direct paraprofessional work as needed and maintain prompt attendance. Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Behavior Intervention Plans for students with disabilities, differentiating instruction to address unique academic and functional skill needs. Collect and analyze student data to monitor progress toward IEP goals and provide timely progress reports to families.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from a Georgia Professional Standards Commission-approved accredited college or university in the relevant educational field
- Valid Professional Standards Commission-approved teaching certificate in the appropriate educational field
- Special education teachers who issue grades must hold appropriate certification in service (e.g., special education, adaptive curriculum, and/or special education general curriculum)
- Valid Georgia Professional Standards Commission-approved subject-specific endorsements
- Minimum education requirements based on CTAE Specializations
- Must pass the GACE Education Ethics Assessment
- Minimum two (2) years of verifiable industrial work experience
- Industry licensure
