Job Summary
Special Education Para responsibilities include providing instructional and behavioral support to classroom teachers and students in a K-8 setting, supervising students during recess, lunch, and sensory breaks, recording progress on data sheets and logs to assist teachers and the Behavior Coordinator, assisting with educational classroom needs and student behavior plans, and collaborating with a school-based team. Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Valid Ohio Educational Aide Certification
- 1 year of experience working with children with autism or other special needs (required)
- Knowledge of music concepts, rhythm, instruction, and creative expression (required)
- Ability to record student progress on data sheets, goal sheets, and daily logs (required)
- Ability to work collaboratively within a school-based team (required)
- Strong verbal & written communication skills (required)
- Ability to move around considerably (physical requirement)
Desired Qualifications
- Some college or AA degree desirable
- Valid Ohio Educational Aide Certification
- Experience with children with autism or other special needs
