Job Summary
Specially Designed Instructional Coach: Provides educational leadership and expertise in Specially Designed Instruction via technical assistance, professional development, and coaching to local/center programs; collaborates with staff and partners to align programs with district goals; supports IEP development, MTSS implementation, and high-quality programming, including LRE decision-making, AT/AAC collaboration, and compliance with IDEA/MARSE; develops and coordinates professional learning and coaching cycles across county/district/building/program staff; engages in meetings and system design to improve outcomes for students with disabilities; requires Michigan Special Education certification and a Master's degree in special education or related field; 3 years teaching experience with at least 2 in special education; benefits include medical/dental/vision, retirement, PSLF; 8-hour days, 200-day year-round schedule.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Michigan professional certification in an area related to Special Education required
- Master's degree in special education or related field
- Three years’ successful teaching experience in education with not less than two years in a special education program
- Experience developing training and support programs
- Working knowledge of the Common Core Standards and Essential Elements
- Demonstrated success working with, developing and implementing tiered intervention strategies
- Must possess exceptional organizational, verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to equity, social justice, and inclusion in all practices and position responsibilities
