Job Summary
Specially Designed Instructional Coach in Michigan providing educational leadership, technical assistance, professional development, and coaching to local and regional programs for students with disabilities. Responsibilities include collaborating with staff and partners to align with district and building goals; assisting districts with evidence-based curriculum, IEP development, and program design; using instructional knowledge to monitor progress and refine practices; MTSS implementation; supporting LRE decision-making; designing and delivering professional learning and coaching cycles; coordinating with Assistive Technology/AAC consultants; ensuring IDEA/MARSE compliance; and representing Kent ISD in meetings. Requires valid Michigan Special Education certification, a Master’s degree in special education or related field, and at least three years of teaching experience including two in special education; strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills; and commitment to equity and inclusion.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Michigan professional certification in Special Education
- Master's degree in special education or related field
- Three years’ successful teaching experience in education with not less than two years in a special education program
- Experience developing training and support programs
- Working knowledge of the Common Core Standards and Essential Elements
- Demonstrated success working with, developing and implementing tiered intervention strategies
