Job Summary
Specialized Support Paraprofessional: Community Coach assisting students with disabilities in identifying work and community activities, developing individualized schedules, and providing on-site coaching at program sites around Arlington and surrounding communities. Responsibilities include identifying resources to reach employment and independent living goals, creating access to community settings, coordinating with employers on workplace accommodations, transporting students to community sites, delivering on-the-job coaching, supporting time management and executive functioning, and maintaining regular communication with families, schools, and partner sites. The role requires collaboration with the Arlington Special Education Department, data collection, progress reporting, and participation in transition services to improve student independence and community participation.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma with a minimum of 2 years college experience
- Related field experience working with students with disabilities
- Sensitivity to student needs, concerns, and individual issues, as well as flexibility, patience and high professional integrity
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations of students
- Energetic, self-starter who can complete multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
