Job Summary
Compounding Specialist will review non-sterile and sterile formulations per client requests, evaluate client requirements for safety, therapeutic efficacy, justification, route of administration, active ingredient concentration, dosage, and clinical relevance; verify formulas against primary literature and assess physico-chemical compatibility, suitability and stability of APIs/excipients; verify calculations and preparatory steps, labels, and legal parameters. Provide technical responses to client inquiries, support day-to-day compounding issues, assist with base selection, ingredient incompatibilities, and formulation chemistry; consult on niche practice standards, regulatory inquiries, and facility workflows; perform literature searches and compile findings for clients; stay current with national/provincial/federal regulations and help develop SOPs/Policies & Procedures; participate in continuous quality improvement of formulation databases; hybrid work environment with a centralized Montreal location. The role requires a pharmacist or qualified technician with strong communication skills in French and English and an ability to support clients across North America.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in science or related field (BS Pharmacy, PharmD) or Pharmacy Technician
- Three to five years of experience in pharmaceutical compounding (pharmacist) or ten years for pharmacy technician
- Knowledge of USP, NAPRA, FDA, Health Canada guidelines is an asset
- Excellent communication; English and French (oral & written) required
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, Excel) is an asset
- Ability to interpret client inquiries, perform literature searches, and provide technical formulation guidance
