Specialist, Specialty Lines - Marine

The Specialist, Marine will support the Coast Underwriters team in Canada by contributing to the strategic product development plan, developing guidelines and authority statements, managing the referral process, and collaborating with brokers, customers and internal teams on pricing, underwriting, risk assessment and growth opportunities. Key duties include governance-driven portfolio management, underwriting audits, communicating changes to underwriting guidelines and new products, and providing underwriting training and expertise to colleagues and distribution underwriters. The role requires a university degree/college diploma (or equivalent), a minimum of 8 years of marine insurance experience (underwriting experience is a plus), strong communication, analytical, negotiating and time-management skills, high integrity and confidentiality, and a CIP or industry designation. Occasional travel is expected; the candidate must be eligible to work in Canada. The position is hybrid with a new role within a growing team and emphasizes collaboration, data and digital acumen to improve customer and underwriter experiences.
