Job Summary
Implement campus security policies and monitor student and public behavior at school locations. Screen and process personnel entering or leaving the site, while maintaining logs and preparing reports. Assist in student discipline, de-escalate conflicts, and administer First Aid/CPR/AED if certified. Report security deficiencies to the supervisor and maintain effective relationships with District personnel, parents, and the public. Work a rotating and flexible schedule of 7.5 hours per day for 187 days at a salary of $17.42.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Florida driver's license.
- Valid Adult and Child First Aid/CPR/AED certificate issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Clear and concise oral and written communication skills
- organizational and management skills
- Knowledge of pertinent regulations, policies, and procedures for the functional area of assignment
- Knowledge of HIPAA, Public Records, Sunshine Law, FERPA, and other laws/regulations related to student and employee privacy, public information, and records retention
- Knowledge of and experience with industry-standard equipment, materials, practices, computers, and applications
- Ability to professionally and effectively respond to customer needs and requests for service or assistance
- Ability to listen and make astute observations regarding daily life, people, and surroundings
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and objective calm behavior in emergency situations
- Ability to physically manage student conduct and conflict and intervene and de-escalate in a crisis situation as necessary
- Ability to work a rotating and flexible schedule
- Ability to maintain logs and prepare simple reports
- Ability to stand for a prolonged period of time
- If certified, ability to administer First Aid/CPR/AED as needed for illness, injury, or life-threatening emergencies per certification training guidelines
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's degree.
- Two (2) years of security, law enforcement experience, public safety, corrections or military experience.
- One (1) year of experience working in a school, with students, or a youth program.
