Job Summary
Lead product developments from concept to commercialization, translating requirements into specifications by selecting materials, designs, and manufacturing processes. Manage project status, timelines, and resources while interfacing with customers and suppliers to define projects and resolve technical issues. Develop products following stage gate principles, create design verification plans, and conduct literature searches to generate intellectual property disclosures. Investigate customer complaints, develop test methods, and provide hands-on technical support to sales, marketing, and manufacturing teams. Report to the R&D Manager on business continuity, cost-out, and sustainability initiatives. Master's or PhD in Polymer Science or Chemistry required with 3-5 years of R&D experience.
Required Qualifications
- Master's or preferably PhD degree in Polymer Science or Chemistry
- 3-5 years research and development or product development experience
- experience with polymers, plastics and/or pressure sensitive adhesives
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects with minimal supervision
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with Technical Writing
- Ability to write technical documents clearly
- Hands-on ability to analyze and creatively solve problems
- Good knowledge of statistics
- Ability to work in a team environment and interface effectively with cross-functional groups to define and execute overall requirements
- Understanding of applicable computer systems, such as Google Workspace, statistical software, ERP systems and other function-specific software
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational and project management skills and attention to detail
Desired Qualifications
- experience with polymers, plastics and/or pressure sensitive adhesives preferred
- experience with Minitab
- Forward-thinking and digitally fluent, with experience or a strong interest in leveraging emerging technologies, including AI-powered platforms, to accelerate research, data interpretation, and innovation
