Job Summary
Specialist I provides front-line administrative and clerical support in a medical office, including greeting and registering patients, collecting copayments, verifying demographics and insurance, and maintaining accurate EHR documentation. Responsibilities include explaining check-in processes and insurance requirements, handling scheduling and referrals, processing patient records and billing discrepancies with the care team, and ensuring HIPAA/privacy compliance. Strong customer service and bilingual Spanish communication are emphasized, with emphasis on accurate documentation, compliance, and coordinating with multiple providers to support efficient patient flow. Must be able to work Monday–Friday 8:00am–5:00pm in Fort Myers, FL.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 1+ year of experience in clerical, customer service, or healthcare office settings preferred
- Basic knowledge of EHR systems and Microsoft Office applications preferred
- Strong attention to detail, interpersonal communication, and time-management skills
- Demonstrated professionalism and commitment to patient confidentiality
- Adheres to HIPAA and privacy standards
