Job Summary
Direct the operation of the school library and serve as teacher, materials expert, and curriculum adviser to ensure the library/media program is integrated with instructional programs. Align library goals with district plans and standards; foster active, resource-based learning; promote instructional technology with 24/7 access to digital resources; advocate for the library profession; communicate with stakeholders; collaborate with teachers to design engaging inquiry-based experiences; curate and maintain a balanced, curriculum-aligned collection; coordinate resource sharing, budgeting, and procurement; ensure access to diverse resources and support for a variety of learning needs; stay current in professional practices and educational technologies; supervise personnel and facilities within the library program; ensure flexible scheduling to maximize student access.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree
- Texas Teacher’s certificate
- Texas School Librarian certificate or equivalent
- Learning resource endorsement (for those who earned the certificate prior to January 23, 2001)
- Minimum of two years successful classroom teaching
