Job Summary
Specialist, Health Promotions at the American Lung Association will coordinate, implement, and evaluate lung health programs across Missouri and additional territories, manage grants and local funding, develop and submit funding proposals, participate in community outreach and coalitions, and report program metrics. The role blends in-person and virtual work from the St. Louis, MO office and requires collaboration with volunteers, funders, and community partners, with periodic travel and the ability to engage across public health, policy, and advocacy efforts. Key duties include identifying funding opportunities, delivering grants-related deliverables, attending outreach events, preparing reports, building relationships, and pursuing opportunities to expand the mission footprint. Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in public health or related field (or equivalent), at least 2 years in public health-facing roles, strong written and oral communication, ability to work independently and with teams, travel willingness, and proficiency with Microsoft Office. Compensation ranges from $46,000 to $51,000 annually, with comprehensive benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in public health or related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience developing and implementing community awareness, education, and programs specifically related to areas of public health, community engagement, or public policy
- Prior experience in public health, community relations, public policy, and/or advocacy
- Must be a self-starter with excellent communication skills both written and oral
- Positive attitude with the ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Required to travel periodically for meetings and conferences
- Ability to lift approximately 25 lbs
- Able to work with minimum direct supervision, make decisions, and take initiative
- Proven ability to cultivate and steward relationships across a diverse population
- Must have a valid Driver’s license and your own reliable transportation with the ability to travel within assigned area for meetings and conferences, as well as the flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends with some overnights required
- Required to travel statewide to provide training and technical assistance and to attend meetings and conferences as required by assigned grants
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
