Job Summary

Act as the primary point of contact for clients managing pension splitting in divorce cases, producing Pension on Divorce Expert reports and overseeing pension sharing calculations across Defined Benefit, Defined Contribution, and hybrid arrangements. Build trusted relationships while communicating complex financial information clearly and empathetically during sensitive periods, managing expectations proactively from instruction through case completion. Coordinate with solicitors and internal teams to deliver new products and services, maintaining accurate case records and resolving risks early. This role focuses on practical pensions expertise within a new collaborative product between Octopus Money and amicable, offering direct ownership of client outcomes and exposure to unique areas of financial services.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years' experience in financial planning, paraplanning, pensions administration, consultancy, or a technical pensions role
  • Experience acting as a primary contact for clients
  • Experience working with different types of pension schemes
  • Proven experience in a client-facing role, ideally involving complex or sensitive financial matters
  • Relevant pensions qualification and experience (e.g. PMI, DipPFS)
  • Strong knowledge of UK pension schemes, including DB and DC arrangements
  • Familiarity with Cash Equivalent Transfer Values (CETVs)
  • Awareness of relevant guidance (e.g. Pensions Advisory Group)
  • Demonstrates strong ability to build trust-based client relationships
  • Communicates complex information in a clear, structured, and reassuring manner
  • Shows empathy, discretion, and emotional intelligence in sensitive situations
  • Takes ownership of the client experience, ensuring continuity and consistency
  • Confident in leading conversations with clients and managing expectations effectively
  • Strong understanding of pension structures and benefits across multiple scheme types
  • Able to review, interpret, and sense-check pension-related calculations
  • Applies technical knowledge in a practical, client-focused context
  • Maintains high attention to detail and accuracy in all outputs
  • Strong ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously
  • Effective prioritisation skills with a focus on deadlines and service quality
  • Proactive in identifying risks and resolving issues early
