Specialist, Financial Aid Veterans

Job Summary
Administer federal, state, institutional, and private financial aid programs by answering student questions, entering data into the administrative system, and calculating aid. Complete needs analysis, certify veterans for the Department of Veterans Affairs, and prepare approval information and state budgets. Process institutional scholarships with the Scholarships Committee, assist with Title IV applications, and submit annual Federal and State reports. Provide financial aid assistance across four campuses while serving on the Graduation Committee and attending commencement. Manage multiple priorities with superior organizational and communication skills in a team-oriented environment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Associate degree in a related field from a regionally accredited institution
- Two years of financial aid or related experience
- Experience in a community college setting
- Knowledge of on-line computer records system
- Ability to enter data
- Record keeping and bookkeeping experience
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as rules, instructions, and manuals
- Ability to write routine correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide
- Ability to count units of money
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
- Experience using Microsoft applications
