Job Summary
Specialist, Communications at Aecon leads the daily, multi-tiered execution of corporate programs within Corporate Affairs and Communications. The role involves coordinating program content across print, digital, training, and online event deliverables; researching, writing, and editing content for internal channels (articles, newsletters, videos); organizing in-person and hybrid events; managing SharePoint intranet portals; serving as a point of contact for internal stakeholders and coordinating with external vendors; and monitoring program metrics and invoicing. The position requires a university degree or diploma in communications or a related field, at least three years of business communications experience in a digitally focused role, strong written and oral communications abilities, the capacity to manage multiple priorities with tight deadlines, tact in handling sensitive matters, teamwork, and event-planning skills. Experience with Canva and AV/video production is considered an asset. The vacancy is a replacement and the salary range is $75,000-$85,000.
Required Qualifications
- University degree or diploma in communications, journalism, or related field
- Minimum of three (3) years of business communications experience, preferably within a digitally focused role
- Demonstrated experience in communications program implementation and management
- Exceptional written/oral communications skills and storytelling lens; ability to take complex ideas and transition into clear, compelling content and meaningful messaging
- Ability to successfully plan and execute multiple priorities with tight deadlines and meticulous attention to detail
- Experience and maturity in dealing with sensitive matters and strong business acumen to enable tactful problem-solving and collaborative-driven solutions
- Ability to lead as a dedicated contributor within a larger team environment, be open-minded, and embrace feedback and direction from others
- Demonstrated event planning/logistics experience in both virtual and in-person environments is considered an asset
- Demonstrated proficiency in Canva is considered an asset
- Demonstrated proficiency in AV and video production (scripting, producing, working with AV vendors) considered an asset
