Job Summary
Identify and maintain relationships with collectors, dealers, corporations, and institutions, including major clients for high-value property sales. Actively participate in sourcing and selling department sales by reviewing photo inquiries, researching property authenticity and provenance, and preparing condition reports. Function as a liaison with overseas specialists and CDD group to generate new business opportunities and reconnect with inactive clients. Write catalogue essays, prepare materials for press and marketing, and coordinate pre-sale exhibition set-ups. Participate in telephone bidding during auctions, work with buyers during sale week to market and pre-sell lots, and track competitor results. Actively represent Christie's at events, art fairs, and functions while executing special projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in applicable Art History
- Chinese language proficiency
- Minimum of 5 years paid work experience in related field
- Knowledge of the auction business
- Demonstrated ability in appraising property and business-getting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including superior written and spoken communications
- Superior client service skills
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Strong follow-up skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work within a team environment
Desired Qualifications
- M.A preferred
- Knowledge of E-mail, Spreadsheet, Word Processing and Presentation software (Microsoft Office preferred)
- Ability to learn Christie's systems including COS, JDE, intranet and website
