Job Summary
Conduct defensive, non-lethal, and small unit tactics instruction in all environmental conditions while maintaining liaison with law enforcement, military, and government organizations. Research current security techniques, review lesson plans and materials, and evaluate training effectiveness to ensure objectives are met. Participate in curriculum review, design new training, and assist instructors in scheduling classes and managing resources. Present briefings to diverse audiences and perform safety officer or role player controller support tasks as required.
Required Qualifications
- Two (2) years of instructor experience
- Five (5) years of relevant hard skills tactics experience
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Possess or be able to obtain/maintain a SECRET clearance
- Must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen
- Ability to complete work requiring regular and recurring physical and mental exertion
- Ability to work in unpleasant or adverse environmental conditions, such as extreme hot and cold
- Ability to lift and carry equipment and materials
- Ability to work effectively in an environment that consists of numerous personnel and use of pyrotechnics
- Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word
- Ability to convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly or quickly
- Ability to talk or hear
- Ability to stand
- Ability to walk
- Ability to use hands to finger, handle or feel
- Ability to reach with hands and arms
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
- Knowledge of security concepts, principles, and practices
- Knowledge of security programs, operations, and techniques, including terrorism and anti-terrorism operations
- Knowledge of current protective security methods
- Basic knowledge of adult learning principles
- Basic knowledge of the development and revision of training curriculum
- Ability to immediately analyze, predict, and preclude situations to ensure training is conducted in a safe manner
- Skill in oral and written communications
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with the duties of Foreign Service and foreign affairs personnel
- Experience working overseas
- Experience in an embassy environment
- Completion of a recognized instructor development training course
