Job Summary
Assist instructional personnel in educating and supervising students with autism; apply strategies to foster independence, self-reliance and social skills; assist in delivery of lesson plans and instructional exercises; monitor progress toward individual educational plans and goals; supervise small groups and individual students in various activities; use positive reinforcement and appropriate techniques to aid in behavior development; assist with instructional materials, assistive devices, and computer-assisted instruction; monitor during classroom activities, recess, and field trips; may provide basic personal care assistance and support in medical emergencies; may assist in transporting students to and from buses; attend specialized training as required; travel between schools may be required. THE ROLE IS FULL-TIME PARAEDUCATOR IN A SPECIAL SCHOOLS SETTING; EXPERIENCE WITH AUTISM SUPPORT AND PARAEDUCATOR COMPETENCIES IS DESIRED.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent AND Successful completion of college level coursework - 60 Credit Hours OR passing of examination Para-Pro Assessment
