Job Summary
Special Reconnaissance Instructor delivers advanced training in surveillance, reconnaissance, and environmental preparation of operations to Air Force Special Operations Forces personnel. Responsibilities include classroom and field instruction on surveillance, reconnaissance techniques, small unit tactics, land navigation, vehicle/convoy operations, CQB and room-clearing, handling and instruction on munitions and night-vision devices, safe live-fire supervision, infiltration/exfiltration by fixed/rotary-wing aircraft, amphibious/open-water training, radio communications and reporting procedures, performance evaluation, and participation in mission planning exercises. Requires an Active Secret clearance and typically prior SR experience; instruction emphasizes SOF capabilities, target development, and operational readiness in diverse environments.
Required Qualifications
- Special Tactics operator or equivalent
- Graduate of USAF Special Reconnaissance Course, OR five years current SR experience in SOF or sister services
- Active Secret security clearance
- English fluency (read, write, speak)
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Working knowledge of computers including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Windows
- Ability to perform rigorous field work in outdoor environments
- Ability to obtain and maintain required base access credentials
