Special Projects Manager

Job Summary

Manage FFP and IDIQ projects, including maintenance, logistics, and facility improvements, from initiation through closeout. Define scope, prepare pricing proposals, and coordinate simultaneous special projects across multiple North Dakota locations. Conduct site inspections, review submittals and change orders, and ensure delivery within budget and schedule. Develop cost estimates, manage work orders, and track expenditures while maintaining compliance with federal regulations and security requirements. Lead cross-functional teams, coordinate with government stakeholders, and deliver status reports to leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, Project Management, or related field from an accredited college or university
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 7 years of directly related experience in project management within a federal contracting environment or the equivalent
  • Ability to obtain Public Trust Security Clearance
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to travel to project sites as needed
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple simultaneous projects of varying size and complexity
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and applicable project management software
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to manage competing priorities, tight deadlines, and adapt quickly to changing conditions
  • Strong operational leadership skills with proven ability to lead, motivate, and coordinate cross-functional and high-performing teams
  • Excellent communication skills — both written and oral — with ability to interface effectively with government customers, senior leadership, and cross-functional teams

Desired Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, or ability to obtain within time frame established by employer
  • Experience working in secure government facilities or classified environments
  • Minimum of 10 years of project management experience managing construction and/or services projects in a federal contracting environment
  • Experience working directly with government clients, Contracting Officers (COs), and Contracting Officer Representatives (CORs)
  • Experience managing subcontractors and vendors in a federal contracting environment
  • Demonstrated experience managing project budgets of varying size and complexity
  • Experience with federal procurement and contracting processes, including familiarity with FAR/DFARS regulations
  • Experience preparing and presenting project status reports and briefings to senior leadership and/or government clients
  • Proficiency with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with data-driven decision-making approach
  • Strong understanding of change management processes
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, NFPA codes, and workplace safety requirements
  • Commitment to operational excellence, continuous improvement, and customer service
