Job Summary
Support and reinforce learning objectives by engaging students in classroom activities, administering tests, and providing individualized instruction on academic subjects and daily living skills. Assist students with basic needs including hygiene, feeding, and physical transfers while implementing behavioral plans and de-escalation strategies under teacher supervision. Maintain classroom routines, collect performance data, and document health concerns or injuries in accordance with district procedures. Communicate with supervising staff, professional support personnel, and parents to evaluate progress and implement IEP objectives. Provide a structured environment across various school settings, including job site drives for high school students, while maintaining confidentiality and adhering to safety protocols.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Completed two years of study at an institution of higher education (48 college hours) or have a minimum of an associate degree
- Demonstrate knowledge through formal assessment, (e.g. ParaPro Assessment (former assessment) or The Paraeducator Learning Network Assessment (current assessment) within one year from date of hire
- Maintain current TB testing as required by Health Department regulations (after employment offer is made)
