Job Summary
Special Programs Para Educator handles individual student assistance and supports classroom teachers with educational program delivery for bilingual, migrant, and special education students. Responsibilities include supervising students during transitions and meals, assisting with instructional activities, implementing appropriate instructional strategies under teacher direction, maintaining necessary records, and helping students achieve goals. The role requires strong written and verbal communication in Standard English, computer proficiency, physical stamina to stand/walk for extended periods and lift up to 26 lbs, and a collaborative, confidential approach to student support. Preference for Spanish bilingual skills and completion of Safe Schools training as a condition of employment. The position is part-time (6 hours/day) for the 26/27 school year with non-continuing status, located in Burbank, WA.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/equivalent
- Be deemed Highly Qualified per NCLB Requirements (AA degree, 72 approved quarter credits or Para Pro assessment)
- Valid first aid and CPR card desired
- Experience working with children
- Spanish bilingual skills preferred
