Job Summary
Perform medically prescribed radiographs and interventional procedures while independently implementing patient procedures according to department protocols. Prepare, prime, and set contrast injectors; maintain radiology inventory supplies; and manage PACS system tasks including sending, retrieving, and assisting with image problems. Conduct daily QA, QC phantom calibrations on all diagnostic units and equipment. Ensure patient safety by using gonad shielding, lead markers, and proper immobilizing devices; recognize and report medical emergencies to MDs and nursing staff. Maintain a clean environment, comply with radiation safety protocols, and report malfunctioning equipment to vendors or MDs.
Required Qualifications
- Certificate from accredited School of Radiologic Technology
- New York State license or temporary permit to practice Diagnostic Radiology
- 1-2 years work experience as a radiology technician in any medical facility
- Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)

- Clear understanding of the mission of the hospital and the Cardiac Cath / EP / Radiology Department
- Knowledge of how to perform daily QA, QC phantom calibrations on all general diagnostic units and equipment
- Active certification and or licensing by all city, state and or federal regulatory agencies as required by law
- Demonstrates knowledge and dominance on equipment set-up, utilization and care of the equipment
- Demonstrates proper scrub technique
- Capable of recognizing and reporting the first sign of medical emergencies to the MDs and nursing staffs
- Understand and demonstrates skills applying established procedures for patient identification
- Understand and apply the organizations service standards and incorporates them into the daily workflow of the Cardiac Cath / EP / Radiology area
- Awareness of the policies and procedure for reporting and contacting radiation safety issue to the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO)
- Knowledge of how to perform daily QA, QC phantom calibrations on all general diagnostic units and equipment
- Demonstrates knowledge and dominance on equipment set-up, utilization and care of the equipment
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
Desired Qualifications
- BLS certification
