Job Summary
Provide technical expertise, guidance, and direct services in clinical and operational psychology to support service member readiness and resilience. Develop, plan, and initiate unit-level resiliency programs to prevent and treat behavioral health issues. Conduct advanced training, administer psychological assessments, and manage personnel selection records while offering crisis response and follow-up care for unit casualties. Deliver professional development, awareness education, and feedback to leadership on personnel suitability for specific military organizations. Maintain current Secret or Top Secret clearance, a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology, and a minimum of two years of post-doctoral experience in operational psychology. Hold a full, active, unrestricted state license and current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification. Work in an austere environment with long, irregular hours, including the ability to hike over rough terrain and function during sleep disruption cycles.
Required Qualifications
- Secret Clearance or Top Secret Clearance, or the ability to obtain a clearance
- Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) or Doctorate of Psychology (PsyD) from an American Psychology Association accredited college or university with a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology
- Successfully completed an Internship/Residency in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association
- Minimum of two (2) years' post-doctoral experience within the past five (5) years in the independent practice of psychology in the area of the operational psychology, preferably in a Government setting such as a Department of Defense (DOD) or Intelligence Community (IC)
- Meet clinical competency requirements specified in the Service-specific credentialing instructions
- Receive and maintain clinical practice privileges
- Experience and training in the assessment and treatment of alcohol and substance abuse conditions, domestic violence, child abuse, post-traumatic stress, mood and anxiety conditions, and family/marital issues
- Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a psychologist in one of any U.S. State, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico or U.S. Virgin Islands
- Maintain current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) as required for credentialing at servicing medical treatment facilities
- Maintain credentialing requirements in good standing at a local MTF
- Demonstrate computer literacy sufficient to operate a personal computer utilizing psychological test, word processing, database/spread sheet programs, and possess basic typing skills sufficient to efficiently produce the psychologist's own reports and correspondence
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of professional standards and ethics regarding the delivery of clinical psychology programs
- Oral and written communication skills in English
- One year of experience in performance enhancement or executive coaching as well as organizational assessment and consultation and/or completion of the USASOC Operational Psychology in Personnel Selection course or similar organizational psychology classes
- Training in critical incident/stress trauma interventions
- Capability of meeting the physical demands of selection and training events including the ability to hike over rough terrain, work long irregular hours with disruption in sleep cycles, and function in austere environments
- SERE orientation and/or certification through the Joint Personnel Recovery Agency (JPRA), or the willingness to obtain it
- Post-doctoral training, or willingness to obtain training, qualifying them as an Aerospace Psychologist as demonstrated by completion of USAF and/or USA aviation psychology training (USAFSAM's Air Force's Aviation Mishap Intervention and Prevention course and USASAM's Aeromedical Psychology Training Course)
- Comply with Safety, Health and Environmental plan, policies and procedures
- Comply with the Quality Assurance plan, policies and procedures
- Maintain regular and acceptable attendance
- Complete all required training
