Job Summary
Private-home weekend caregiver role in Northwest Peoria (AZ) for an 18-year-old non-verbal individual with autism. Thursday late afternoon/6-7pm to Sunday early evening/5-6pm schedule every other weekend, including swimming supervision, meals, hygiene assistance, and outings. Responsibilities include supervising activities, facilitating therapy-related activities (ABA or behavioral therapy), ensuring safety (pool and daily routines), and reporting to parents. Ideal candidate will have experience with special needs therapies or education, a clean driving record, ability to pass background and fingerprint checks, strong communication, reliability, professionalism, and the ability to engage respectfully and consistently throughout the workday.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working with individuals with special needs (therapy, ABA, behavioral therapy, special education, or related field preferred)
- A clean driving record and ability to pass background checks and obtain fingerprint clearance card
- A positive, encouraging, and optimistic attitude
- Ability to follow directions while using good judgment in the moment
- Strong physical stamina and comfort actively participating in physical activities
- Excellent communication and reporting skills
- A kind but firm demeanor with the ability to set and maintain boundaries respectfully, de-escalate situations, and involve parents in discipline when needed
- High levels of reliability, professionalism, and integrity
- A commitment to being present, focused, and engaged throughout the workday—this is not a role for someone distracted by their phone or outside obligations
