Job Summary

Conduct field and laboratory inspections of construction materials and activities including reinforced concrete, structural masonry, welding, soils, fireproofing, and structural steel to ensure compliance with project specifications, building codes, and industry standards. Prepare detailed records of inspections, test results, and observations while interpreting plans and specifications. Communicate findings to project managers, contractors, and engineers to resolve issues. Maintain required certifications and continuing education. This role requires a valid driver's license, ability to lift 40 lbs, and willingness to work flexible schedules, overtime, and travel. Must possess strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to accuracy and integrity.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in construction inspection or materials testing
  • Current certifications in one or more of the following: ICC Special Inspection (e.g., Reinforced Concrete, Structural Masonry, Soils, Steel & Welding)
  • ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade I
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to work independently in a field environment and maintain professionalism with clients and coworkers
  • Must be willing to work flexible schedules and overtime as needed by the department needs
  • Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 40 lbs
  • Drive a company vehicle in a safe manner
  • Walk, stoop, bend, and climb up and down stairs and ladders
  • Stand, walk and balance in irregular and uneven terrain and pavements, concrete, grass, dirt and gravel
  • Work in high grounds and high open buildings
  • Work outside for extended periods in the heat and cold
  • Ability to wear appropriate PPE for hazardous materials
  • Ability to read and write in English
  • Willing to travel to support projects when needed
  • Pre-employment drug screen
  • Motor vehicle record checks

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or related field
  • NICET certification in construction or geotechnical inspection
  • Strong understanding of IBC, ASTM, ACI, AWS, and other applicable codes and standards
  • Experience working on commercial, residential, and infrastructure projects
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents
  • OSHA 10/30 certification
