Job Summary
Observe construction activities and perform testing and measurements to ensure projects meet approved design drawings, specifications, and engineering recommendations. Furnish inspection reports to building officials, engineers, and architects while notifying contractors of deviations for immediate correction. Maintain direct client contact for job progress meetings, materials testing, and inspections. This journey-level position requires ACI Technician Level I, ICC, AWS/CWI, or ASNT Level II certifications and 1-3 years of field inspection experience. Travel to other NV5 office locations may be required.
Required Qualifications
- ACI Technician Level I
- ICC certification for reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry, steel bolting and/or fireproofing
- AWS/CWI certification
- ASNT Level II experience
- Caltrans certifications or testing experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1-3 years of experience doing inspections or field technician duties
- Nuclear gauge safety certification
- Valid driver's license and an insurable driving record
- Ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull objects and materials up to 50 pounds
- Must adhere to NV5 safety practices and policies
- May be required to work outside normal business hours

- Advanced education
- Demonstrates complete competence as a Field Technician I
- Familiarity with construction job site conditions, problems encountered in the field, and proper procedures for rectification
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including teamwork and problem-solving skills
- Electronic report preparation (Microsoft Office) and technical writing
- Must be able to write/document reports using MS Office programs
- Frequent usage of verbal communication equipment (telephone, radio, cell)
- Frequently requires walking, standing, kneeling, bending, stooping, twisting, turning, crawling, squatting on level and non-level surfaces that may be slippery
- Repetitive hand movements in the performance of daily duties
- Frequently write or use a keyboard to communicate
- May require frequent sitting at desk for extended periods of time
