Job Summary
Special Inspector role focused on masonry special inspections to verify compliance with NYC Building Code, project specs, and QA requirements. Responsibilities include inspecting masonry construction, reinforcement placement, grout operations, anchors, embedded components, and related structural elements; conducting field and laboratory testing of concrete, soils, asphalt, masonry, and aggregate per ASTM/AASHTO standards; preparing inspection and laboratory reports; maintaining testing records; and supporting IAS, AASHTO, CCRL, NYC DOB, and other regulatory audits. Requires coordination with contractors, engineers, and project teams to resolve field issues; maintenance of records; and adherence to safety and quality procedures. Qualifications include High School Diploma or GED; Associate Degree in related field preferred; minimum three years of experience in inspections and/or materials testing; ICC Masonry Special Inspector Certification; ACI Concrete Strength Testing Technician; ACI Concrete Laboratory Testing Technician – Grade I. Location: Hirani Corporate Office, Hicksville, NY. Salary: $35-$40 per hour. Hires expects Full-time employment.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Associate Degree in Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related field preferred
- Minimum three (3) years of experience performing special inspections and/or construction materials testing
- Experience performing masonry inspections in accordance with applicable building codes and project specifications
- Experience performing concrete field and laboratory testing
- Experience working in an IAS, AASHTO, or CCRL accredited laboratory
- ICC Masonry Special Inspector Certification
- ACI Concrete Strength Testing Technician
- ACI Concrete Laboratory Testing Technician – Grade I
