Job Summary
Special Events Manager leads planning and execution of schoolwide and advancement events, including endowed lectureships, Commencement, Grand Day, and donor engagement events. responsibilities include vendor negotiations, budget management, travel and hospitality logistics, speaker contracting, content planning, marketing coordination, run-of-show development, post-event analysis, and cross-functional collaboration with Advancement, alumni engagement, and school partners to support fundraising, donor cultivation, and community engagement. Requires strong project management, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to work evenings and weekends in a nonprofit/education setting.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience managing complex, multi-layered events from concept through execution
- Experience managing budgets and negotiating vendor contracts
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to communicate effectively across diverse audiences and stakeholder groups
- Ability to articulate the mission, values, and strategic priorities of Lakeside School to donors, alums, and community partners
- Ability to stay calm under pressure
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Familiarity with independent schools, higher education, or nonprofit advancement
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary
