Job Summary
Middle School Specials / Enrichment & Innovation Teacher (Flexible Subject) delivers engaging, standards-aligned enrichment instruction in a flexible subject area (e.g., World Languages, Theater/Drama, Technology & Innovation, Financial Literacy & Entrepreneurialism, Health/Life Skills). Collaborates across disciplines, fosters an inclusive and anti-racist classroom culture, differentiates instruction for diverse learners (including ELs and students with IEPs), partners with families and the community to showcase student growth, leads enrichment opportunities such as clubs and performances, and participates in weekly professional learning; supports student growth, confidence, and belonging through creative and interdisciplinary enrichment aligned to BTWA’s mission and values; requires a Bachelor’s degree or higher, CT teaching certification or eligibility, and 2–3 years of teaching experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Valid teaching certification in an enrichment discipline or Elementary Education with an enrichment endorsement (CT certification or eligibility for reciprocity required)
- At least 2–3 years of teaching experience
- Ability to create a classroom environment in which students feel safe, supported, and inspired to explore creatively
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Demonstrated commitment to educational equity, youth development, social-emotional learning, restorative practices, and culturally responsive pedagogy
- Familiarity with project-based learning, inquiry-driven instruction, or blended learning models
- Experience differentiating instruction for diverse learners, including ELs and students with IEPs
