Job Summary
Lead the Special Education department within Lumberport Elementary as the Special Education Team Leader/Department Chairperson. Drive a positive school climate, support a cohesive culture, model professional behaviors, and use effective communication to resolve conflicts and foster unity. Collaborate with county and building staff to align curriculum, instruction, and assessment to promote student achievement. Build partnerships with families and the community to support student success. Develop and implement professional development opportunities to improve instructional practices and increase student achievement. Support induction and orientation processes for new staff, assist with scheduling and master scheduling, attend meetings to advance district and school goals, serve on relevant curriculum and instruction committees, and stay informed about current trends and requirements to relay information to staff. Perform additional duties as assigned by administration.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of three years of experience as a special education teacher and currently employed as a special education teacher in the respective building
