Job Summary

Set ambitious targets for annual student achievement and track progress toward these goals. Develop assessments to measure understanding, create lessons for reteaching concepts, and manage a gradebook reflecting student performance. Collaborate with grade-level and vertical planning teams to share best practices, develop intervention strategies, and collaborate on lesson plans. Implement instructional, therapeutic, or skill development programs for assigned students, present subject matter according to IEP guidelines, and adapt teaching methods to meet varying learning styles. Participate regularly in ARD Committee meetings and observe students' academic, behavioral, and social development. Prepare remedial programs, organize field trips, and meet with parents to discuss progress and growth priorities. Maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning, manage student behavior per the Student Code of Conduct, and intervene in crisis situations as necessary.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Texas Special Education teacher certification
  • 3+ years' experience in special education classroom
  • Experience with Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process
  • Individual Education Plan (IEP) goal setting process and implementation
