Job Summary
Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) while providing specialized instruction aligned with each student's academic and functional needs. Differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse learning styles, utilize accommodations and assistive technology, and apply positive behavior intervention strategies to support student success. Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families to maintain accurate documentation and communicate progress during IEP meetings. Ensure compliance with IDEA, Section 504, and Michigan special education regulations while participating in professional development and school improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field
- Valid Michigan Special Education Teaching Certificate with the appropriate endorsement
- Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and Michigan special education regulations
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff
- Commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
