Job Summary
Deliver primary instruction to students as scheduled while preparing lesson plans aligned with New York State Standards. Evaluate academic progress, maintain Individual Education Plans and Behavioral Support Plans, and create a safe learning environment. Assess program outcomes on the agency database, assign tasks to teacher aides, and manage classroom resources. Participate fully in school meetings, including Committee on Special Education sessions, and communicate with staff regarding student concerns. Work a first shift, 36-hour week, lifting up to 25 pounds, within a trauma-informed community focused on safety and recovery.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- New York State Teacher certification in special education
- Experience teaching Math grades 7-12
- Must be available to work a first shift, 36-hour work week
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree
- Experience with at-risk youth and/or youth with special education needs
