Job Summary
Special Education Teacher responsible for developing and monitoring accommodations for students with special needs, collaborating with families and SPED teams to develop and implement IEPs/504 plans, differentiating instruction (pull-out/push-in/small group/one-on-one) and fostering an inclusive, safe learning environment. Requires collaboration with general education teachers, school leaders, and families; data collection and goal setting for annual IEP meetings; ongoing professional development and participation in weekly school-wide meetings. NY state certification eligibility required and a bachelor’s degree; teacher preparation enrollment and GPA maintenance may be required if not educational degree holder.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Meet NY state certification eligibility requirements
- Enroll in teacher preparation program and maintain GPA 2.5+ if not education degree
- Certification not required to be hired but must become certified in NY state
