Job Summary
Special Education Teacher at Uncommon Schools responsible for developing and monitoring accommodations for students with special needs, collaborating with families and Special Education teams to develop 504 plans and IEPs, and delivering inclusive instruction. Roles include teaching pull-out, push-in, small group, and one-on-one instruction, analyzing student work samples and assessments to respond to trends, writing goals for IEP meetings, and participating in weekly school-wide meetings to uphold core values and student achievement. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Must enroll in NY state teacher preparation program and obtain certification within a reasonable period after employment
- Certificate eligibility required (certification not required to be hired but must meet NY state certification requirements)
- GPA 2.5 or higher during employment if not holding an education degree
- 1-2 years experience preferred in urban K-12 settings
- Ability to develop and implement IEPs and 504 plans
- Strong collaboration with families and internal/external partners
- Commitment to social emotional and academic development of students
- Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development and coaching
- Ability to implement pull-out, push-in, small group, and one-on-one instruction
- Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners
