Job Summary

Special Education Teacher responsible for developing and monitoring accommodations for students with special needs in an urban NJ K-12 setting. Engage in collaboration with families and IEP/504 teams to create and implement individualized plans, differentiate instruction, and provide inclusive, safe learning environments. Deliver pull-out, push-in, small group, and 1:1 instruction; analyze student data; write goals for annual IEP meetings; participate in weekly school-wide meetings; and collaborate with grade-level teams to align instructional practices with core values and student achievement. Role emphasizes evidence-based planning, ongoing professional development, and partnership with students’ families to ensure appropriate resources and successful learning outcomes. Follow NJ state certification eligibility requirements and strive toward teacher certification within NJ after starting.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Teacher certification is not a prerequisite for consideration in NJ, but must meet NJ state certification eligibility requirements (GPA requirements in stated ranges) and become certified within NJ within a reasonable period after employment
  • 1-2 years experience preferred in urban K-12 settings
  • Demonstrated commitment to social emotional and academic development of students
  • Academic expertise in Special Education or related fields
  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external partners to support students
